Developer Rod McClaskey is requesting phased construction permits for his mixed-use project at 1818 Harvard Avenue in Capitol Hill. The 6-story building designed by Clark Design Group received design approval in July.

Plans show that Vīb Hotel will occupy the bottom three floors of the building while the upper three floors will contain a total of 28 small efficiency dwelling units. There will be one level of below grade parking for 15 vehicles and a bike room for 13 that will be accessible via Harvard. The building will also feature a roof deck facing west.

According to their website, Vīb is a Best Western brand located in the heart of key urban destinations around the world serving as “a stylish urban boutique hotel concept designed for today’s traveler.” They currently have locations in Chicago, Miami and Seoul and are planning hotels in Los Angeles, Staten Island and a second Miami location.

McClaskey purchased the 8,960 square foot property in 2012 for $1.9 million. Located just a block away from Broadway and the Capitol Hill Station, the site is currently home to an old 12-unit apartment building and surface parking lot. Should the phased construction permits be given, the project could break ground as early as June 2018.
