Seattle Civic Square Update
It looks like we are nearing the end of downtown’s 12 year vacant pit saga.

The Seattle City Council approved legislation on Monday authorizing the deal to sell the vacant Civic Square lot in front of City Hall to Bosa Development. The agreement passed with a seven-to-one vote; the sole vote of opposition was cast by Kshama Sawant. Councilmember Lisa Herbold was absent.

As previously we have shared, the city will sell the property to Bosa for $16 million in addition to Bosa’s $5.7 million contribution to the city’s affordable housing fund. Bosa’s plans are to develop a 57-story residential high rise with for-sale condominium units and a 25,000 square foot public plaza.

The deal will close as soon as the city issues a master use permit. Construction is scheduled to begin in early 2019.
