This week, Westbank presented new details about First Light at a keynote with founder Ian Gillespie at the Cinerama. In addition to the keynote, Westbank will open their art installation, Light As A Common Thread on October 27, which features work by artist, John Hogan, on their site at Third & Virginia. The 459 condominium units will range from 392 square foot studios to a 2,755 square foot penthouse. Each home will have “a cool, natural palette throughout” and floor-to-ceiling, triple-paned windows. As for the kitchens, the sleek cabinetry will feature Miele appliances that “seamlessly flow into the design of a modern kitchen.” Residents will have two color options: white-on-black (pictured) or black-on-white.

On the 45th floor will be penthouse units featuring walls of floor-to-ceiling windows, wraparound balconies, three bedrooms (each with an ensuite), and a powder room. The kitchens will have an expanded appliance package that includes a wine fridge and espresso machine. Penthouse units will also come with a custom chandelier by Hogan and Bec Brittain.

First Light’s location places you in the heart of it all and within walking distance of many day-to-day activities; however, for trips that require a car First Light will have a residents-only car-share program with luxury vehicles available from the concierge or via an app.

The top of the tower will feature three stories of amenities open to every resident. On the 46th floor will be the Wellness Center with over 3,000 square feet of space, including a cardio room with views spanning west-north-east; a weight room; and a secluded yoga and stretch room.

On the 47th floor will be the Residents’ Salon. The fully furnished gathering space “centers around framing the brilliant views with natural elements and a rich palette of earth tones.” Located at one end of the Salon will be a screening lounge with a sunken living room and fully wired entertainment system. Residents will be able to book the space for special occasions.

On the same floor is the tower’s pièce de résistance, the Sky Pool. Framed by hot tubs on both ends, the cantilevering pool has views of Puget Sound and the Space Needle on one side and John Hogan’s “glittering glass veil” on the other.

Last but certainly not least, First Light will have Secret Garden on the 48th floor. Accessible by a private elevator, the lush rooftop space will feature glass installations by Hogan.

First Light has collaborated with Amazon make every suite Alexa-enabled. To help new residents, a “First Light Technology Expert” will be on hand to greet them; brief residents on the capacity of the technology; and connect and program all of their own smart appliances and home entertainment components. Alexa will also be available throughout the public spaces in the building.

On October 16, the Downtown Design Review Board voted unanimously to approve the project to proceed to the next phase of review and application for a Master Use Permit.
