Starting at the beginning of this season through June 3 the Mariners are picking up your fare to ride the Link Light Rail to Safeco Field.

Happy Opening Day! As we embark upon a new season of Mariners baseball, there are a couple of changes for fans on game days.

Ride the Link Light Rail on Mariners Game Day

Starting today (March 29) through June 3, your Mariners game ticket is also your ticket to ride the Link Light Rail to Safeco Field. Thanks to a partnership between the Mariners and Sound Transit, fans will only need to show their Mariners ticket (digital or paper) if asked by a fare officer to show their ORCA card or Link ticket. The tickets will be valid starting three hours before the first pitch through the end of the service day.

For those who need to drive, free parking will also be available at the Angle Lake or Tukwila International Blvd. stations. Fans can also choose to park at other paid garages downtown near Westlake or other light rail stations and then make their way to Safeco Field. Sea-Tac Airport also offers $12 game day parking for weekend home games.

Uber also has a deal for fans going to/from the Angle Lake or University of Washington light rail stations. Fans who take Uber to or from either of those two stations on game days will receive $3.50 off their fare. The Uber discount is only for the Angle Lake and UW stations. It does not apply to other stations along the route.

Don’t know which Link light rail station is closest to you? Use the Sound Transit Trip Planner to plan your next game-day trip.

Safeco Field – Ballpark Entry

Several changes have been made in order to improve the process of entering Safeco Field:

  • No re-entry. In the past guests were permitted to scan in and out multiple times with the same ticket, which increased congestion.
  • There will be two CLEAR lanes and free registration kiosks for expedited entry. Guests can begin using the CLEAR Lane immediately. Enrolled fans can bring with them one adult guest and children under 18.
  • There will be additional entry points with walk-through metal detectors, increased staffing, and improved signage to help guide fans through the entry process.
  • Stricter enforcement of existing MLB security restrictions on bag size. Bags 16” x 16” x 8” or smaller are permitted inside Safeco Field. Oversized bags will not be allowed inside – a paid locker service will be available on game days if needed.
  • No knives of any size or type will be permitted. Previously, guests were able to check their knives to be claimed later. Now, they will either have to return the banned item to their vehicle or surrender it at the gate.
  • Fans will be allowed to bring in one 32oz sealed, clear plastic water bottle per person.

Go Ms!
